Mission Briefing
Kuki Good Cab
Our hunt for great Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons (on your behalf) knows no limits. Which is exactly why we are so psyched to offer this tiny 3 barrel production Cab from a primo Mount Veeder vineyard. Only 79 cases exist! We leaped at the opportunity to offer it despite the lack of many available cases.
After tasting many dozens of 2011 Napa Valley Cabs, what’s very clear is that the mountains had the best results. The valley floor fruit that makes up the majority of the Napa Valley’s output struggled to overcome the cool wet weather patterns. Vineyards north of 1000ft were able to dry out and even catch some rays above the damper floor conditions. Plus, mountain grown fruit is by training lower yielding, meaning the vines don’t panic much when they need to tough out a bad weather pattern. This is high quality Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, make no mistake.
Cellar this for up 20 years, or serve it up in a carafe with lamb sausages. It’s a classic Mount Veeder Cabernet with immediate and long-term appeal.

What the Wine Press has to say:
“Bright medium dusty garnet color. Lively, fruity, toasty aromas of ripe blackcurrants, black cherries, dried twigs, and green olives with an lively, dry full body and a peppery, complex, medium-long finish with chewy, firm, fruit tannins and moderate oak.” - 91 points - Beverage Testing Institute, July 20 2015.
Tasting Profile
Look: | Opaque with a crimson edge. |
---|---|
Smell: | Graphite, blueberry, chocolate, lavender, cassis, cedar. |
Taste: | Dark, intense, flavorful, and well-structured mountain Cabernet. Great fruit concentration, body, and spine. Super quality Cab through and through. |
Finish: | This is a young, tannic Cabernet with good fruit ripeness to support the chewy parts. That’s what we love about the wine so much. It could age 20 years. Get some for the cellar and some for a lot of protein and a carafe. Don’t hold back from drinking it now though - it’s fun to drink. |
Pairing: | Rocking with a rack of lamb, roasts, or a grilled sausage with lots of herb and spice. |
