Mission Briefing
A beast of a feast
Screaming Eagle owner Charles Banks sold his elite winery in 2009 - and, along with Screaming Eagle winemaker Andy Erickson, started Cultivate Wines. Andy is prolific: in addition to heading up winemaking during his tenure at Screaming Eagle, he is also consulting winemaker for Harlan Estate, Staglin, Hartwell, Ovid, Dancing Hares, Dalla Valle and Arietta in Napa - and Jonata in the Santa Ynez Valley.
Andy has brought all of his winemaking experience to bear on today’s delectable Cultivate 2010 “The Feast” California Red Wine, and we are thrilled to share it with you, today.
Tasting Profile
Look: | Ruby, dark garnet. |
---|---|
Smell: | Plums, berries, mocha, mint, and dust. |
Taste: | Full on dark berry bonanza! Generously endowed with black plums, boysenberry, cacao, and dusty hillside spices. |
Finish: | Very smooth and plush. No hard edges, but not lightweight, either! Berry flavors linger and beg for another sip. |
Pairing: | Versatile for all sorts of meals - as its name would imply! Try it with a simple dinner of roasted chicken and mashed potatoes, or something with a greater flavor spectrum like Szechuan beef and green peppers. |
