Hartford Family Winery
2013 Pinot Noir Land's Edge Vineyards
California: Sonoma County: Sonoma Coast
To the Limit
Hartford Court is a virtuoso with Pinot Noir planted at ace vineyards throughout the foggiest nooks of the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast. No producer does it better. Their single vineyard wines are Grand Cru quality. 2013 yielded gorgeous fruit, and the Land’s Edge Vineyard is stunning. One of the best Russian River Pinot Noirs we’ve tasted all year, for half the price of the region’s fancy stuff.
“The 2013 Pinot Noir Lands Edge Vineyard comes from a site situated less than five miles from the Pacific Ocean. Its deep ruby/plum color is followed by notes of charcoal, spring flowers, red and blackcurrants and cherries. Savory, ripe, elegant, and fresh, it can be drunk over the next 5-7 years.”

Clear edged, but nice saturated crimson.
Pure Pinot bliss. The aromatics are so, so nice. Coastal red fruits with woodsy spices and a cocoa caress of good oak. Intoxicating aromas.
Black cherries, raspberries, tea and cardamom, butter cookie crumbs, mushroom, and more red fruit.
A sexy sipper for sure, but wonderfully complex stuff in there. This is a Pinot Noir that will age easily for a decade.
Japanese fried chicken wings. If that’s not available, find yourself a duck.
