Mission Briefing
Old World meets New
We love it when something different comes our way. And that’s what happened when we tasted today’s Galerie Wines 2013 Naissance Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc.
You see, today’s wine beautifully and elegantly combines Old World winemaking with New World fruit. Winemaker Laura Díaz Muñoz learned her craft under Chris Carpenter, who creates wine for highly acclaimed labels Cardinale, Lokoya, La Jota Vineyard Co., and Mt. Brave. This expert tutelage shines through in today’s wine. Crisp fruit flavors are joined by a subtle chalky mineral note, which is something you typically only find in Sauv Blancs from the Loire Valley.
Please enjoy our boldest recommendation for today’s unbelievably delicious white wine. Cheers!
Tasting Profile
Look: | An incredibly pale, almost iridescent, golden yellow through and through. |
---|---|
Smell: | With hints of elegant white peach, pink grapefruit, white flowers, and lavender, today’s wine features aromas that will immediately remind you of the Loire Valley. Touches of bright citrusy lime leaf are present as well. |
Taste: | Wonderfully balanced, with juicy, voluptuous fruit flavors abutting a distinct chalky minerality that’s usually only seen in Sauv Blancs from the Loire. Fresh white peach, tangerine, and Meyer lemon form the fruity core, with hints of violet, dried flower petals, and white herbal tea adding a touch of complexity. |
Finish: | Soft, silken, and beautifully lingering, the finish is incredibly round and clean. Today’s wine beautifully combines Old World style with the best California fruit. |
Pairing: | Roasted chicken breast, prepared with fresh rosemary, garlic, and sea salt. Serve it with your favorite homemade take on couscous. |
