Today’s pureCru Wines 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautifully structured, balanced and perfectly delicious wine. It is elegant, bold, big and bawdy all at once. Can you tell that we’re intrigued by this wine? We’re sure that you will be, too!
Earlier this year, Wine Spectator’s editor in chief James Laube made a bold proclamation when he issued the 2010 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon vintage a decades high score of 98 points. Laube declared, “There’s never been a better time to be a lover of California Cabernet Sauvignon, a category undeniably powered by the performance of Napa Valley wines. Don’t let the higher prices for some wines scare you off. There are scores of excellent wines in the $60-and-below range.”
Antonio Galloni says, “2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon: An Epic Vintage…The 2010s are magnificent, viscerally thrilling wines loaded with character and personality!”
Dark purple with a foreboding, opaque core. Long, chubby, garnet-colored legs cling to the glass when the wine is swirled.
Lush and layered with bold aromas of mixed black fruit, sweet spice, toasty vanilla, baker’s chocolate and flinty minerals with undertones of earthy bramble and dried fall leaves.
Bright and bold with big flavors of dark berry compote, dark plum skin, cassis liquor, Bing cherry chocolate, mixed spice, oak and a hint of minerality.
Exceedingly long, with black fruit flavors that dwindle very gradually. As the fruits fade, oak and minerals persist, inviting your next long sip.
Enjoy this elegant beast of a wine with something big. We’ll be enjoying ours with a garlic and pepper rubbed Porterhouse smothered in mushrooms!
