Christopher Creek Winery
2012 Russian River Valley Zinfandel
California: Sonoma County: Russian River Valley
Today’s Zin is one of the best I’ve tried in a very long time! This really means something, as I taste a ton of wonderful wines each and every week.
If you are a fan of bold, juicy, extracted Zinfandels, today’s Christopher Creek Winery 2012 Russian River Valley Zinfandel will really impress you.
Winemaker Mike Brunson is a personal friend of mine and I have followed his career for nearly a decade now. As a winemaker, I have seen Mike’s skills grow and grow. Today’s wine is, hands down, the finest I have ever tasted from Mike. Please enjoy it with my humble but firm recommendation!
A beautiful dark crimson, with swirls of ruby and magenta meeting in the heart of the glass.
Richly aromatic, with bold fruit flavors that invite you in. Ripe blackberry and wild strawberry are laid overtop sweet tobacco leaf, freshly ground black peppercorn, subtle vanilla bean, and just a touch of dried rose petals.
Incredibly lush and flavorful, with flavors that beautifully coat the palate. Slightly jammy dark berries and black cherries mingle with lightly roasted coffee bean, summer berry bramble, clove, and black peppercorn.
Very soft on entry, the nuanced and well integrated flavors linger and linger. A hint of black peppercorn spice lingers on the tip of the tongue after the finish fades.
Porcini and rosemary encrusted beef tenderloin.
