Winemaker Philip Baxter is a California native who has been making wine in California since the 1960s. His career began at the Charles Krug Winery and he went on to develop the Souverain Napa operation and was the head winemaker at Rutherford Hill Winery for its first ten years. He then moved to the Dry Creek Valley as the winemaker at Domaine-Michel and after a long run there, he went on to make wines at cult wineries Mario Perelli-Minetti, Fife Napa, and Terra Valentine on Spring Mountain. Today, he makes wine for Angel Camp Vineyards and his namesake Baxter label.
Today’s wine, which is made from 100% Pinot Noir has the lightest copper color and is big on elegance, pretty aromatics and a plethora of wonderful flavors. For me, it was love at first kiss.
Don’t miss out on this wonderful wine. We simply adore it - and know that you will, too.
Intriguing, with the lightest copper hues. Even coloration from core to edge.
Peach, nectarine, pear and Golden Delicious apple, with hints of acacia flower, citrus flower and Asian pear.
Yellow peach, pineapple, nectarine, white flowers and flinty mineral.
Very long. Clean and refreshing with fruit flavors yielding to mineral and a hint of white spice.
Though this wine would be fantastic all on its own, we suggest a pairing with poached salmon or an oven roasted herbed chicken.
