Mission Codename Tantalizing
The 2012 vintage keeps delivering the hits and if today’s Mario Bazan Cellars 2012 RAMA Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon were an album, it’d be solid gold.
Mario Bazan managed the vineyards of To Kalon, Opus One and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars for more than 30 years. Today, he grows fruit for [REDACTED], while retaining some small lots for his own fantastic wines.
The new release of the 2012 Rama Cabernet Sauvignon is a fabulous example of this style. With aromas of ripe red fruits, espresso beans, vanilla, clove and cedar box; the wine tantalizes the senses from the moment it’s poured in the glass. On the palate, the concentrated flavors of fresh cherry, raspberry, blackberry and black fig are further complimented with hints of dried herbs, savory spices, and dark chocolate. With chewy tannins, firm structure, a long, engaging finish, and a moderate level of only 13.9% alcohol; it’s a wine that continues to open up until the entire bottle is finished.
For food pairings, try this delicious new release with slow-roasted stews, pork mole, grilled steak, rack of lamb, blue cheese, and chocolate.” ~ 95 points - Christopher Sawyer, Sommelier and Wine Writer, March 2015
This young wine is drinking beautifully now and we have the highest expectations for the bottles that we break into in the future. Be sure to pick up enough bottles to have on hand for the next decade - or longer.
Very highly recommended!
