2008 Mirifice Reserve Red Wine
Red Blend •Tristant Vineyard
California: Napa Valley: Calistoga
Today’s Tristant Vineyards 2008 Mirifice Reserve Red Wine is a blend of 75% estate grown high end Merlot, 20% Napa Valley hillside Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Calistoga Napa Valley Petite Verdot.
The primary component in this wine, the Merlot, is grown under top secret contract for wineries like [REDACTED] and [REDACTED]. Bill Tristant reserves a few select rows for his own namesake wines. Today’s wine is made mostly from that same Merlot. The rest comes from other luxury vineyard sources in the Napa Valley.
The wine itself is made at the Benessere Vineyard, a long time Wine Spies favorite.
If you are looking for a high-dollar drinking experience at one steal of a price, look no further. Just act quickly, before we sell out.
Darkest garnet with a slightly opaque heart.
Dark fruit of plum, cassis and black cherry meld with mocha, toasted oak, baker’s chocolate, dried leaves, wild mushroom and soft spice.
Bold and powerful, with mixed fruit compote of cherry, cassis, young blackberry, plum and dark strawberry. These are quickly followed by tobacco leaf, fall leaves, dusty bramble, dark minerals, sweet oak, dark spices and baker’s chocolate.
Long and zesty as the fruits give way to earthen flavors and spice elements.
This flexible wine would be perfect with anything from a pasta with meat sauce or backyard burgers to a thick cut steak, grilled to perfection.
