Mission Codename Ominus
For today’s Super Spy Sunday, we have an Ultra QPR treat for you, the incredibly delicious Phipps Family Cellars 2009 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine hails from the Combs Brother Vineyard in Napa Valley’s Yountville AVA. This special vineyard neighbors the Dominus Estate winery and vineyard. As you may know, Dominus is home to $200 Cabernet Sauvignon.
Today’s wine normally retails for $75, but it is yours now for just $44.99. That’s a lovely 40% off for you, dear Operative. You’re welcome!
This wine is very aromatic, with sweet red fruit, earth and spice that leap from the glass. The nose is greeted by blackberry, fig, plum, cassis, sweet baking spice, sweet oak, vanilla, baker’s chocolate, cigar box and a hint of sweet tar.
On the palate, this ultra-delicious Cabernet is brighter and more red than the nose would indicate, this flavor-packed wine delivers Bing cherry, raspberry, young Alpine strawberry and dried cranberry up front. These are closely joined by cigar box, sweet spice, darkest chocolate, cedar and black pepper.
