Mission Codename The Bomb
Today’s Martellotto Wines 2013 La Bomba Cabernet Sauvignon was born of the Star Lane Vineyard in Santa Barbara’s unique Happy Valley AVA. This vineyard produces higher end Cabernets that fetch upwards of $100. Today’s La Bomba Cabernet is yours for less than a quarter of that price - making it a great value.
If you’ve enjoyed the wines of Dierberg or our selections from Three Saints, you are already familiar with the extraordinary fruit that went into today’s wine. Today’s wonderful Cabernet has aromas that are sweet and spicy with black cherry, braised plum, smoky blackberry, toasty oak, black pepper, blueberry, dark chocolate, subtle herb and a hint of graphite. On the palate, the wine is juicy and dark, with bold flavors of rich Blackberry preserve, blueberry, ripe raspberry, cigar box, smoked dried beef, subtle savory herbs and black pepper.
This wine, which was built for aging, is drinking beautifully now - but we are advising our Operatives to lay some bottles down for the next decade or longer… if you have enough patience!
