Mission Codename Cara Mia
Welcome, Operative, to Super Spy Sunday. Each Sunday, we feature an elite-level wine - at a very special price. These are rare and higher-end wines that our deserving Operatives have been asking us to procure for them.
Today I am very proud to bring you our latest Super Spy Sunday wine, the very special 90 point (Wine Spectator) Baracchi Winery 2010 Ardito Red Wine. While that 90 point score is well deserved, we feel that it deserves better. In fact, when he was asked, our own Agent Red gave the wine a 94 point score.
Today’s Tuscan blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Syrah is a beautifully balanced wine. It delivers a ton of fruit for an old world wine, without sacrificing the old world charm that we also crave from our Italian winemaking friends.
This wine is very aromatic. Complex, rich, old world aromas jump from the glass, with smoked cherry, dried cranberry, chocolate cherry cordial, toasty chocolate, spice, toasted anise seed, hand sawn walnut wood, cured meat, leather and darkly toasted oak.
It is also incredibly rich and vibrant on the palate, with blackberry compote, plum, black licorice, dark leather, black cherry reduction, baker’s chocolate, dark spice, toasted oak and flinty minerals.
Are you a Super Spy? If you’ve acquired today’s enthusiastically recommended wine, you most certainly are!
