Mission Codename Cal-Italia
Bonny Doon allowed us special access to their private library of wines and we went right for this delicious ruby-red gem of a wine. Today’s gold medal-winning, 90 point-scored wine is a brilliant wine that is made from 100% California-grown Nebbiolo. This is your last chance to purchase this wonderful wine.
If you are looking for something unique, something exclusive and something delicious, you’ve landed on the right wine. Today’s Bonny Doon 2007 Ca’ del Solo Nebbiolo is all of that - and much more. Winemaking legend Randall Grahm has crafted a truly lovely, very food friendly wine in this elegant, bright Nebbioolo.
Lusty and heady aromas jump from the glass, leading with cranberry raisin, dried violets, lavender, dusty bramble, dried fall leaves, and tobacco. As the wine breathes, it opens up to unveil black cherry, blackberry, black licorice, black tea and soft spice.
On the palate, this wine shows off delicious flavors and a bright acidity that drive cranberry, black cherry, blackberry, cedar, dried violets, dried fall leaves, tobacco leaf, black tea and subtle spice all across the palate.
Randall Grahm pioneered luxury wines with screwcap enclosures, which is excellent for long-term storage and in-the-bottle development. Today’s wine may be a 2007, but it drinks as fresh and bright as a young wine - with the added benefit of being aged to perfection.
