The nose is full and fun. Smoked cherry, cranberry, plum and spice waft from the glass. As the wine opens up, it reveals smoked meat, black cherry, cigar box and sweet spice.

Elegant and plush on the palate, with dark cherry, plum and blackberry compote on entry. As the wine settles onto the palate it unpacks additional flavors of cigar box, smoked cherry, dried meat, dark spice and black pepper.

Today’s blend of 76% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc, 5% Syrah, 1% Grenache and 1% Mourvedre is a steal at just $15.99. Be quick, though, this very highly recommended wine may not last the day.
