The Purple Panacea
Welcome to another Super Spy Sunday!
We’re thrilled to welcome back Daou Vineyards, who gave us special access to their flagship red blend, the stupendously delicious Daou Vineyards 2012 AUX Reserve Red Wine. This wine is powerful, elegant and yours - if you hurry.
There isn’t very much of this wine left in the world.
This wine was made by the oh so talented, Daniel Daou, whose skilled hand is apparent in every sip, every inhalation of this delicious wine.
Daniel’s appreciation for quality wine was nurtured throughout childhood, so he understands the power of place. He brings this understanding to bear with his own label. His vineyard produces extraordinary fruit for his equally extraordinary wines.
On the nose, this wine is rich, ripe and bold, with aromas of black cherry, blackberry compote, wild strawberry, cedar shavings, dried violet, dried earth, twigs, tobacco and black pepper.
Dense and packed with flavors, the palate begins with concentrated black fruit, earth and spice. These are followed by bold black cherry reduction, blackberry compote, smoked blueberry jam, dark minerals, tobacco leaf, savory herbs, darkly toasted oak and black pepper.
Enjoy - with our heartiest recommendation!
92 points - Matt Kettmann, Wine Enthusiast - “Deep and dark blueberry aromas are laced with blackberry-balsamic reduction, black tobacco, black sage and a brooding spice character on this blend of 71% Syrah, 24% Grenache and 5% Mourvèdre.
It’s thick and chewy on the palate, with ripe purple fruits clinging to a dense backbone of bacon fat and fudge.”
Remember, we offer FREE Temperature-Controlled shipping during the hot summer months. Add optional ice packs if your local area is hot, and your wine will arrive in great condition!
