Mission Codename Hail Onx!
Join us in celebrating the return of Onx Wines, an Operative favorite that was first featured here earlier this year. Back then, we declared that Onx wine to be the “best Paso blend we’ve ever tasted”. It was true then - but today’s wine is even better!
Today’s wine is a complex yet elegant blend of 55% Tempranillo, 22% Grenache, 14% Mourvèdre, 8% Malbec and 1% Alicante Bouschet. This wine is all about balance or, perhaps more accurately, juxtaposition. You see, this wine is at once bold and elegant. Powerful yet refined. Sublime yet elevated.
Powerful aromas leap from the glass, led by Spiced cherry, blackberry candy, blackberry bramble, blueberry, dark chocolate, Sassafras, cinnamon and black pepper. Full and ripe on the palate, with gorgeous flavors of blackberry jam, plum compote, bramble, cocoa, sasparilla, cinnamon, dried cranberry, lavender, braised fig and sweet cracked peppercorn.
We are proud to offer you this very impressive wine with our fullest recommendation.
“This blend of 55% Tempranillo, 22% Grenache, 14% Mourvèdre, 8% Malbec and 1% Alicante Bouschet is a good example of the intriguing blends made by this winery in the Templeton Gap area. An aroma of smoked game combines with tightly wound graphite and purple fruit scents, followed by a palate that blends cured meats with dried herbs and blackberries.” - 91 points - Matt Kettmann, 3/1/2015
