Mission Codename Le Grand Petite
Today we’re thrilled to bring you the downright incredible Optima Cellars 2010 Dry Creek Valley Petite Syrah. We know winemaker Mike Duffy to be a great talent, and he gets it just right with this big wine!
This Petite is a ready-to-drink gem that bursts with luscious flavors and deep aromas.
Deeply aromatic, with concentrated, perfumed scents of Blackberry & raspberry compote, mulberry jam, spiced plum, black cherry, black currant, sweet cherry pipe tobacco, cedar, toasty oak, vanilla and a hint of cracked pink peppercorn.
On the palate, the wine bursts with flavors of Black cherry cordial, blackberry preserve, leather, dried violets, dark chocolate, beef char, espresso bean, European black licorice and dried dark flower petals.
The tannins are fairly solid, giving the flavors a great framing.
This big wine could be cellared for up to a decade or more - if you have the patience to see how the wine evolves as it matures.
Please accept this wine with our very bold recommendation.
