Mission Codename Happiness
If Alegria means Happiness, then today’s Miro Cellars 2013 Alegria Vineyard Old Vine Zinfandel must be bottled joy. This reserve tier wine from our friend Miro Tcholakov is a very special treat. This wine is loaded with fruit and balanced by earth and spice, giving it a very well-rounded appeal.
On the nose this wine is all sweetness and spice - with a measure of earthiness that gives the first indication of a very well-balanced wine. Blackberry and black cherry leap from the glass. These are closely followed by mulberry, raspberry, cranberry, sweet spice, pencil shavings, plum jam and black pepper.
On the palate, this delicious zin is loaded with stewed dark fruit of plum, young blackberry and black currant, followed closely by bramble, tobacco leaf, cigar box, flint and black pepper.
A very food-friendly wine, this Zin is also a delicious treat all on its own. Give the wine a hearty swirl to activate it, or simply decant for a while before serving.
We adore Miro’s wine and we’re proud to offer up today’s as a shining example of just how skilled this great winemaker is.
Cheers!
