Today’s fantastic (yes, fantastic) Tallulah Wines 2012 Orchard Avenue Chardonnay hails from what is arguably one of the most famous American Chardonnay vineyards in history. Orchard Avenue is a 3.4 acre Napa Valley vineyard that was planted in 1970 - and made up a portion of the 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay that won the Judgement of Paris tasting in 1976.

On the nose, lime, lime flower, lime leaf, Kefir lime and Meyer lemon take the lead. After the wine warms a little, it opens up to reveal added aromas of toasty oak, vanilla, lemongrass, straw and a hint of white rose.

Creamy and bright and incredibly delicious on the palate, with tangerine, Meyer lemon, key lime, golden apricot, vanilla cream, toasted oak and pear, with hints of butterscotch, quince and soft flinty minerals. The acidity and rich fruit really make this Chardonnay come alive. This is a vital, rich and outstandingly delicious wine that calls wines of twice its price rivals.
