Mission Codename Crête Noire
Agent Red declares this wine to be one of the best Santa Cruz Mountains red blends he’s ever tasted. Winemaker Bill Brosseau of Testarossa Vineyards presided over the creation of this magnificent Red and it is an expressive, juicy and delicious wine that is a worthy companion for finer food fare.
Today’s Black Ridge Vineyards 2009 San Andreas Red is the well-deserving recipient of much praise, dear Operative. For good reason too. It was even considered worthy of a 92 point score by Steve Heimoff of Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
This wine is very fragrant and perfumed, with lush blackberry, black cherry, cassis, black plum, sweet tobacco, spice box, baker’s chocolate, molasses and cracked pepper.
Full and balanced on the palate, with flavors of Bing cherry, blackberry, red currant, graphite, cedar, coffee grounds, sweet tobacco leaf, and cracked pink peppercorn.

Here’s what Steve Heimoff of Wine Enthusiast has to say:
“What a pretty wine! Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cab Franc and Petit Verdot, it’s delicious and complex, with each of the grape varieties bringing something different. The blackberry, cherry, currant and cedar flavors are wrapped into silky tannins. Should age for 5–6 years, but there’s no reason you can’t drink it now.” - 92 points - Steve Heimoff, Wine Enthusiast.
