Mission Codename Good King Carneros
Today’s Schug Carneros Estate 2013 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is a fresh, delicious and exceptional 90 point Chardonnay - at a no-brainer price. Winery founder Walter Schug is the godfather of American Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Walter discovered the Sonoma Coast and Carneros regions when working for Joseph Phelps, decades ago.
On the nose, bright mixed citrus leads the aromatic way. This is followed by lychee, lemon curd, subtle vanilla, lemongrass and a hint of subtle sweet spice.
Soft and elegant on entry, then softly grippy as fine tannins take hold. Flavors of Meyer lemon, lemon curd, lychee, white peach, dried apricot, lemongrass, subtle cream, and subtle white pepper pervade the palate.
If you love great Chardonnay, today’s delicious - and very highly recommended - Sonoma Coast Chardonnay really delivers!

What the Wine Press has to say:
“Wet stone and a chalky underbelly of crisp, clean and low-oaked fruit entices in this food-friendly wine, elegant in lemon, lime and green apple. Juicy and well rounded, it’s an easily enjoyable wine at a fair price that will please a range of palates.” - 90 points - Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast.
