Mission Codename The Big Red
Today’s Chalk Hill Estate 2012 Estate Red is a delicious wine that drinks like a big-dollar Napa Cab. Crafted by skilled winemaker Steve Nelson, formerly of Sebastiani Vineyards, this wine is sure to impress.
Set within a natural amphitheater carved into the hills of eastern Sonoma, the vineyardists of Chalk Hill Estate coax Mother Nature to create perfect fruit. The winemaking process is light-handed, non-invasive and sustainable, allowing each bottle to emulate the essence of the vineyard.
Dense and concentrated on the nose, with bold aromas that jump from the glass. These include Blackberry, plum reduction, pipe tobacco, leather, cigar box, mixed spice, smoked meat, tamari and dark chocolate.
Robust flavors explode onto the palate, with Blackberry and blueberry compote, braised plum, black cherry, cigar box, black cherry pipe tobacco, cassis, baker’s chocolate, brown spice and black pepper.
Grab some of this Highly Recommended wine, before it sells out!

What the Wine Press has to say:
“…the 2011 Proprietary Red Estate is one of the most singular and unique blends in Northern California. Attractive notes of blackcurrants, spice box, earth and background oak are followed by a medium to full-bodied wine revealing hints of camphor, charcoal and espresso roast.
This elegant, savory, strong 2011 has the finesse and lightness provided by this vintage, resulting in a European-styled red. Drink it over the next decade.” - 90 points - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate.
