Mission Briefing
The Wizard of Carmel
Today’s Holman Ranch 2012 Carmel Valley Estate Grown Pinot Noir was made by our friend, the renowned Greg Vita.
Today’s wine is a bright, juicy and very food friendly example of Pinot Noir from the gorgeous Carmel Valley, where Greg also makes wine for Galante Vineyards, Heller Estate and Rombi Wines. Greg Vita is widely known as the Wizard of Oz of wines in the Carmel Valley and his experience there really shows in the wines that he makes.
The Carmel Valley is the perfect location to grow Pinot Noir grapes. The balance of cool mornings and warming afternoons allows the grapes to mature perfectly.
Today’s wine is bright and fresh on the nose, with heady aromas that jump from the glass. Bing cherry, red currant, cranberry, black tea, subtle spice, flint, oak and a hint of cocoa.
On the palate, flavors are bright, juicy and complex, with tart cherry, cranberry, sassafras, black tea leaf, slate mineral, piquant oak and a hint of cocoa dust.
We predict that this Highly recommended wine will grow wings and fly out of here, so please reserve yours soon!
