Mission Briefing
Spirit of Ecstasy
Today’s winemaker, Weston Eidson, is the grandson of Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, the British automotive pioneer who was the first person to drive an automobile into Parliament - and whose assistant served as the model for the iconic Rolls Royce hood ornament known as the Spirit of Ecstasy.
The elegant, delicious wine that we’re offering today drinks like a $75 Napa Cabernet - and it is all yours for just $25.99. The Silver Ghost Cellars 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon hails from Rutherford, where some of Napa Valley’s most exclusive wines are born.
Elegant and inviting on the nose, rich with blackberry, sweet cherry, cassis, and plum, with red licorice, cigar box, saddle leather, subtle spice and a hint of flinty minerality.
Ultra soft and incredibly elegant on the palate, with darkest, smoky blackberry jam, plum compote, blueberry, black currant, hard leather, tobacco leaf, dark chocolate, subtle spice, subtle white pepper and subtle chalky minerals.
Today’s wine was made with the help of Modus Operandi winemaker, Jason Moore, one of our winemaking heroes - and a darn nice guy. If you are inclined toward super elegant wines that drink way above their price class, you’ll be very impressed with today’s wine, which is a soft and supple as the ride of any Rolls Royce.

What the wine press has to say:
“Complex, dark fruit aromas of black cherry, blueberry, and cassis burst from the glass along with toast, smoked herbs, and coffee.
On the palate, this wine reveals phenomenal purity and opulent fruit with lush and well-integrated tannins supporting a rich texture and depth that continue through the long finish.” - 90 points - Jeff Chandler, WSET Advanced
