Rahn like the wind
Today’s Rhan Estate 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon is an allocated wine, which means that you can’t buy it if you’re not on the winery’s private reservation list.
Unless you are a Wine Spies Operative, of course!
As our Operative, you get to enjoy this stunning limited-availability wine while all others miss out.
Classic Napa mountain Cabernet aromas leap from the glass, leading with Blackberry, raspberry and black cherry. Close behind are aromas of pomegranate, cigar box, leather, toasty oak, baker’s chocolate and mixed spice.
Serious business on the palate, with bold flavors of Smoky black cherry, blackberry & plum compote, cassis, black licorice, toasty spice box, grilled fig, Santa Rosa plum, cocoa dust and a hint of cracked peppercorn.
This exclusive delight is everything you would expect from a Howell Mountain Cab; bold, extracted, delicious and wonderfully balanced. Complex on the nose and on the palate with a finish that goes on forever, this wine is built to satisfy.
Decant for optimal results. Enjoy now or lay a few bottles down for a few more years.

What the wine press has to say:
“A great discovery was made at 1400 ft elevation on Howell Mtn, we truly delight in finding wines that have been overlooked and allowed to age to perfection and elegance.
With a refined tannin structure, this balanced wine opens with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and ripe plum and is followed by hints of spiciness and minerality.
Mountain fruit enjoys extra time in barrel and in bottle to fully integrate the fruit flavors and tannins with nuances of oak.” - 92 Points - Dennis Yeast, Wine Critic
Tasting Profile
Look: | Dark crimson hues, from the heart of the wine, out to the slightly lighter edges. After giving the wine a swirl, it settles quickly, leaving behind tall, closely-space legs that move swiftly down the glass wall. |
---|---|
Smell: | Blackberry, raspberry, black cherry, pomegranate, cigar box, leather, toasty oak, baker’s chocolate and mixed spice. |
Taste: | Smoky black cherry, blackberry & plum compote, cassis, black licorice, toasty spice box, grilled fig, Santa Rosa plum, cocoa dust and a hint of cracked peppercorn. |
Finish: | Elegant, long and loaded with fruit flavors that tail off in even proportion with the earth and spice flavors. Plush tannins frame all of the flavors beautifully. A gradually spreading dryness serves to remind you to take another delicious sip. |
Pairing: | Beef medallions with cheesy polenta would be a dreamy pairing with this very flavorful and very elegant wine. |
