Mission Codename No Gamble
We featured our first Galante Vineyards wine back in 2007. We were hooked at first sip and we’ve featured their wines ever since. Today we have the great pleasure to show you one of Jack Galante’s favorites (ours, too!), his delicious Galante Vineyards 2012 Ace High Malbec. It is a rare treat for us to have Galante, so…
Here’s a Malbec with a dark garnet core with a magenta ring at the edge. Stick your nose in the glass and you’ll find scents of violets and watermelon, with subtle fresh grass, boysenberry, and dusty brambles. On the palate, the flavors are of red plum, black cherry, mocha, spiced applesauce, and allspice. This wine splits the difference, with a medium body that showcases the fruit while going down easily for a nice finish. Chicken skewers with peanut satay noodles would be highly complementary to this excellent wine.
Special Note: Jack Galante’s wines are consistently among the top rated from the Carmel Valley AVA, and we’re really quite grateful to have been working with Jack and his estimable team since our very earliest days. We love Jack - and we love his always superior, fun and delectable wines!
Enjoy!

Here’s what the wine press has to say.
Matt Kettmann, Wine Enthusiast - “Smoke, leather, cedar, dried red cherry and herbal spice show on the nose of this bottling, which is dark but not overpowering in aroma. Dill and pepper notes start the palate, where vibrant acidity and stiff tannins slowly reveal its blueberry, dark cherry and cranberry flavors.”
