Mission Codename Platinum
Today’s 2012 Smokepoint Edna Valley Pinot Noir is an intriguing, delicious wine that our tasting panel fell in love with.
Allow this wine to breathe and it really springs to life, delivering layered, complex flavors and aromas. It is easy to spend a long time with this wine, marveling at the complex flavors and deep aromas.
Earthy and very full on the nose, with forest floor, black cherry, blackberry compote, smoked meats, dried wild mushroom, cedar and a hint of nutmeg.
Concentrated and expressive on the palate, with black cherry compote, blackberry reduction, smoky blueberry, cigar cherry juice, dried cranberry, dried fall leaves and a hint of very subtle nutmeg.
The wax seal at the top of the bottle adds some additional classiness to an already impressive package.
Decant for best results. Better still, swirl the wine in your glass, and witness how the wine really wakes up as it breathes. The more you swirl, the more fruit and complex earthy flavors reveal themselves.
Enjoy this wine with our very hearty recommendation.
