(Semi) Exclusive Alert: Wine Spies was granted early access to today’s exquisite wine. In fact, we’re just one of two retailers in the country to have it - and at 42% off, our price is the lowest.
This ready to drink wine is fantastic, and it is built to age, so stock up and enjoy for the next decade or longer.
On the nose, this wine is incredibly aromatic and bold, with aromas of blackberry preserve, mocha, smoky cherry, pipe tobacco, flint, grilled fig, dried meat, twigs, spice and a hint of cracked pepper.
On the palate, serious and big, with flavors of blackberry reduction, black cherry, grilled cherry, grilled fig, spice box, licorice, flint, graphite, cedar, coffee bean, cocoa dust, tobacco leaf and pepper.
Winemaker, Heidi von der Mehden, learned her craft at Kenwood and Mauritson, but perfected it under the guidance of her biggest career mentor, Richard ‘Dick’ Arrowood. As evidenced by today’s deep, delicious wine, Heidi is one heck of a winemaker. We look forward to tasting more of her wines in the future!
Dick Arrowood’s legacy lives on in his namesake winery’s incredible offerings. Today’s wine is offered to you with our very boldest recommendation.
What the wine press has to say:
91 points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous - ”The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon(Sonoma County), all Knights Valley fruit in this vintage is superb. Raspberry jam, spice, scorched earth, rose petal, cloves and new leather are some of the signatures.
Knights Valley is often noted for a Graves-like sense of gravel-infused minerality, naturally allied to a California expression of fruit. That is exactly what readers will find in the 2013.”
Dark and inky, with dark purple edges and a darker heart. After swirling the wine, tall, skinny, wine-stained tears move very slowly downward.

Extraordinarily long, from the soft entry through to the grippy, softly drying, mouth puckering, crushed velvet conclusion.
Enjoy this bold wine with grilled meats. We’ll enjoy ours with a sear flank steak with capers, garlic, and pink peppercorns.
