Mission Briefing
Out of this World
Today we present you with a steal of a deal on a fantastic 90 point Italian Nebbiolo. Today’s Matteo Corregia 2013 Roero DOCG Nebbiolo is a delightful old world meets new wine that delights the senses.
This Piedmont wine is truly outstanding, and one that we recommend as a Wine Spies Best Buy.
Very aromatic, juicy and bright on the nose, with Bing cherry, red currant, cranberry, raspberry and sweet old world spice.
Flavors burst forth, with fresh black cherry, raspberry, blackberry, cranberry, spice, mild tobacco, sweet spice, river rock, twigs and a hint of black pepper.
Matteo Corregia almost single handedly elevated Roero wines to Italy’s highest standard, DOCG. He is also the only person we know of that has an asteroid named after him. Here is the official entry from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory:
13917 Correggia Discovered 1984 Mar. 6 by E. Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station of the Lowell Observatory.
“Matteo Correggia (1962-2001), from the Roero region of Piemonte, was one of the most exceptional Italian winemakers. Though young, his extraordinary talent, passion and modesty won him the highest accolades from international wine experts. The name was suggested by the discoverer, A. W. Harris (JPL) and V. Zappalà.”
Best Buy & Very Highly Recoemmended.
