2010 Rockfall Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
California: Sonoma County: Alexander Valley
Welcome to another Super Spy Sunday!
Every Sunday we bring you an elite-level wine - with very special savings. Today we have the 95 point (WE) Stonestreet Wines 2010 Rockfall Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, an elegant, limited-availability wine that will knock your socks off.
This is the very same wine that we offered to kick off our first Super Spy Sunday. This elegant, delicious, refined Cabernet Sauvignon hails from the famous 99 point Napa Cab 2010 vintage, reinforcing its designation as a must-have wine. By all means, enjoy a few bottles now - but be sure to lay some down for the next decade or longer.
Aromatic, with dusty black fruit of plum, blackberry and cassis out in front. Just beyond lie aromas of cedar, pine needles, roasted black cherry, subtle savory herbs and hints of baking spice and green peppercorn.
Plum and black cherry compote flood the front of the palate. As these flavors settle onto the palate, additional flavors of black currant, red currant, cedar, bramble, slate minerals and green peppercorn follow on.
Please don’t miss out on this very highly recommended wine. It’s a true delight.
Here’s what the wine press has to say:
95 points - Steve Heimoff,Wine Enthusiast, (8/1/2013) - “This is an awesome Cabernet, that’s so packed with blackberries and cassis, it blows your mind. The richness is superbly balanced by fine acidity and sweet, complex tannins that rein everything into a focused structure. Feels velvety, refined and ageable. Hold until 2018 and drink it for an additional decade or beyond.”
Darkest burgundy at the slightly opaque heart of the wine. At the edges, a ring of dark garnet encircles the wine.

Elegant and very long, with black fruit giving way to earthen flavors and spice as a supple dryness spreads across the palate.
A wine this elegant begs for your best red meat fare. We recommend a nice rare filet mignon with green peppercorn butter, with a side of buttery garlic pea shoots.
