Mission Briefing
Carignane is forever
Today’s Peterson Winery 2012 Dry Creek Valley Carignane is pretty darn special. This wine hails from the winery’s estate vineyard on Bradford Mountain - and wow, is it a steal.
This wine is an easy companion for a wide array of pairing choices. Carignane is the specialty of the house at Peterson and that makes today’s offering an easy choice.
Carignane (also known as Mazuelo, Bovale Grande, Cariñena, Samsó, and Carignan) is a red Spanish/French wine grape variety that is widely planted throughout the western Mediterranean and around the globe. This wine grows very well in California’s Mediterranean climate.
So how is this wine on the senses? For starters, dark, mixed aromas waft from the glass, pleasing the nose with black cherry, bramble bush, blackberry pie, mixed pie spice, toasty cedar, black tea leaf, dried cherry, smoked meat and a subtle hint of savory herb.
Intriguing at first sip, this unique wine cascades across the palate with flavors of Bing cherry, young strawberry, cranberry, red currant, sweet cedar, dried violets, fig, clove and subtle baking spice.
We love this very food-friendly wine - and guarantee that you will, too!
Remember, we offer FREE Temperature-Controlled shipping during the hot summer months. Add optional ice packs if your local area is hot, and your wine will arrive in great condition!
