Mission Briefing

Codename:

The Gem of the RRV

Today only, you’ll enjoy 53% off on an elegant, delightful Pinot Noir that was born in one of the best Pinot vineyards in the Russian River Valley.

Today’s Orentano 2011 R. Buoncristiani Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is an Ultra QPR (Quality to Price Ratio) wine that is elegant and loaded with that Pinot Noir character that has made the Russian River Valley the spot for Cali Pinots.

Quantity is limited, so reserve yours while you can.

Shy on opening, then the wine really opens up, revealing aromas of black cherry, cherry bark, blackberry, black currant, red currant, subtle leather, cedar, dried earth and a hint of dark chocolate.

The elegant texture of the wine provides silky transport of rich flavors of black cherry, black currant, blackberry, Alpine strawberry, leather, soft cedar and just a hint of baker’s chocolate.

This very highly recommended wine hails from the historic R. Buoncristiani Vineyard (which neighbors Operative-favorite Martinelli Winery), the darling of Robert Parker and Antonio Galloni, who consistently rate R. Buoncristiani Pinots in the mid 90s.

Remember, we offer FREE Temperature-Controlled shipping during the hot summer months. Add optional ice packs if your local area is hot, and your wine will arrive in great condition!

Tasting Profile

Look:

Pretty dark ruby hues, with perfect clarity at the edges and just a slight hint of opacity at the heart of the wine. Tall, widely spaced legs move very slowly down the glass wall, giving clues to the texture of the wine.

Smell:

Black cherry, cherry bark, blackberry, black currant, red currant, subtle leather, cedar, dried earth and a hint of dark chocolate.

Taste:

Black cherry, black currant, blackberry, Alpine strawberry, leather, soft cedar and just a hint of baker’s chocolate.

Finish:

Soft on entry, the wine glides onto the palate, transporting flavors to the far corners of the mouth. Red fruits are followed by earth and very subtle spice, and ending with just a hint of baker’s chocolate.

Pairing:

Enjoy this very elegant wine with a warm spinach salad with warm goat cheese, or chicken with Morel mushrooms and a tarragon cream sauce.
