Mission Codename Black Gold
We haven’t been this excited about a Petite Sirah in ages! Today’s Cougar’s Leap Winery 2011 Black Rock Red Hills Petite Sirah is a budget-minded masterpiece, by Nils Venge.
Nils is Ameria’s very first winemaker to receive a perfect 100 point score - from none other than Robert Parker, Jr.
The moment you pour it into the glass you’ll marvel at just how far-reaching the aromas are. You can smell this wine from several feet away! Rich aromas explode from the glass, with blackberry preserve, blueberry, black cherry, cassis, mocha, leather, spice box and toasty oak.
On the palate, the wine is elegant and very plush. Crushed velvet tannins support the fruit and mineral flavors long into a seemingly endless finish. In fact, you may not have the patience to see just where that finish ends.
Yes, it is that long!
Overall, this wine is absolutely gorgeous on the palate, bursting forth with flavors of black cherry, blackberry compote, smoky blueberry, cassis, espresso bean, cocoa dust, flint and soft spice.
This wine is an extraordinary value that is drinking so beautifully right now. This is the Petite Sirah for the most stringent lovers of the varietal. Enjoy now through 2020 - and beyond!
Remember, we offer FREE Temperature-Controlled shipping during the hot summer months. Add optional ice packs if your local area is hot, and your wine will arrive in great condition!
