Today’s Formidable Spring Mountain Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is one of our best-selling Napa Cabs. To celebrate the new 93 point score from Jonathan Cristaldi, we’ve brought the wine back - and lowered our price.

You’re welcome!

Today’s Formidable Wines 2009 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon recently earned a fantastic 93 point score from Jonathan Cristaldi. This wine hails from the 2009 vintage year, which Robert Parker awarded a 94 point score.

This wine has really lively aromatics, with fresh black plum, cassis, Mission fig, rhubarb, dried fall leaves, bramble, and sweet spice.

Juicy and bold of flavor, with black cherry juice, plum, mineral rich earth, dried leaves, dark tobacco leaf, dusty bramble, mixed spice and red currant, with a subtle hint of dried herbs.

Enjoy… but be quick! The last time we featured a Formidable Cabernet, we sold out in short order.

Here’s what the wine press has to say:

93 points, Jonathan Cristaldi - “This truly formidable wine boasts an indomitable deep ruby color, and sensuous black fruit with licorice aromas and subtle smoky vanillin notes. One sip reveals a plush and silky texture with sweet ripe creamy blackberry and plum fruit.

With a bit of bottle age prior to release, this Cab, by Treasure Island-based Outlier Wine Co., offers a peak into the longevity of Spring Mountain fruit, revealing hints of tobacco and leather under that core of sweet fruit. Add to that a sound tannic structure and, with only 700 cases produced, you’ll be wise to stock up.“

Remember, we offer FREE Temperature-Controlled shipping during the hot summer months. Add optional ice packs if your local area is hot, and your wine will arrive in great condition!

Tasting Profile

Look:

Translucent dark garnet with pale ruby edges and tall, chubby tears that glide down the glass after a good swirl.

Smell:

Fresh black plum, cassis, Mission fig, rhubarb, dried fall leaves, bramble, and sweet spice.

Taste:

Black cherry juice, plum, mineral rich earth, dried leaves, dark tobacco leaf, dusty bramble, mixed spice and red currant, with a subtle hint of dried herbs.

Finish:

Extended and light weight, initially. Then, as the wine settles onto the palate, plush tannins take hold, driving a gradually spreading dryness to the far corners of the palate.

Pairing:

Enjoy this bold Napa Cabernet with something its equal, like a grilled Porterhouse, or a dry aged New York steak.
