Mission Codename Jealous Stars
Today’s Churchill Cellars 2013 Bella Luna Pinot Noir is one of the best Pinots we’ve seen from this boutique Russian River Valley producer, and we’ve seen plenty from Churchill, who we’ve been featuring since back in 2008.
Today’s wine is elegant, delicious and very food friendly.
Pinot-perfect aromas glide out of the glass to greet you on the nose! Wild strawberry, cherry, cola, gunpowder, bramble, summer forest, and cherry bark with subtle hints of red licorice, sweet cedar and savory herb.
The silky entry delivers a rush of bright flavors onto the palate, with Bing cherry, Alpine strawberry, cranberry, cherry cola, summer forest floor, cedar, sweet spice, black cherry and dried blackberry.
This wine hails from the winery’s 1acre estate Bella Luna Vineyard, in the heart of the Russian River Valley. This vineyard neighbors DeLoach, Pellegrini and Hook & Ladder - to name a few.
Bella Luna benefits from the Pacific Ocean’s cooling coastal influence and from the regions sandy loam soil composition. The Dijon clone selections of 115, 459, 667, and 777 all work together to produce the pure fruit forward taste that the Russian River Valley is famous for.

94 points - North Coast Wine Challenge - “Softly layered in medium-sized waves of earth, rose and strawberry, this is a delightful wine with enough stuffing through the mid-palate to enjoy on its own or with a meal.”
~
Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast - “A big presence of oak and tannin appear first before characteristics of forest floor and an herbal back note accent mushy plum. Sizzling acidity is a surprise, given the wine’s otherwise weighty sense of being.”
Remember, we offer FREE Temperature-Controlled shipping during the hot summer months. Add optional ice packs if your local area is hot, and your wine will arrive in great condition!
