Mission Codename 'Owl' Night Long
Today’s Kastania Vineyards 2012 Jaden & Keira’s Cuvee Estate Pinot Noir is a wine that opens with supple elegance and delicious, juicy fruit - and finishes with fine tannins and plush, earthy goodness.
Our tasting panel absolutely adores this delicious, food friendly delight. Enjoy this wine with friends or have a glass ‘owl’ by yourself.
Sweet fruits of cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry are accompanied by rose petal, violets, cedar, woodland summer forest, dried wild mushroom, subtle spice and a hint of intriguing orange blossom.
On the palate, fresh black cherry, blackberry, red currant, cranberry, rose petals, cedar, India black tea leaf, twigs, subtle spice, dusty bramble and a hint of fine white pepper at the very end.
Decant, or give this wine a hearty swirl, and be rewarded with added juicy fruit on the nose and palate.
Kastania Vineyard is perfectly positioned in the famed Petaluma Gap of the Sonoma Coast AVA, where some of California’s finest Pinot Noir is grown.
The Sonoma Coast AVA is the 750 square mile area with the Pacific ocean on its western boundary, the San Pablo Bay to the south and Mendocino County to the north, headed inland to the other designated AVAs in Sonoma County. The region is heavily influenced by the cooler ocean climate, increased rainfall and fog that lingers long on the coastal mountains. The specific climate suits the demanding Burgundian varietal of Pinot Noir very well.
This wine is an absolute steal. Enjoy it with our heartiest recommendations.
Finally, if you happen you own an actual owl, be sure to give it some of today’s wine so that it doesn’t suffer from irritable ‘owl’ syndrome…
