2014 Sempre Vive Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc
California: Napa Valley: Calistoga
Boundless as the Sea
Springtime is coming, and if you’re anything like us, you love to sip on the occasional brilliant white wine. Today’s Romeo Vineyards 2014 Sempre Vive Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most unique domestic SBs we’ve tried. It reminds us of the very best offerings from the top producers in New Zealand.
Full and hearty on the nose, with green apple, yellow grapefruit, jalapeno, dried straw and savory herbs. Reminiscent of a New Zealand Sauv Blanc. Bright and very flavorful, with melon, lemon curd, Golden Delicious apple, Asian pear, white spice, subtle jalapeno and savory herbs.
When asked what makes their wines so special, Eugenia Romeo said, “We blend our wine the old fashioned way - by taste. Produced in small lots ensures the quality of our wine shines through. With a high skin/pulp to juice ratio we preserve the extremely deep intense flavors and aromas the land imparts to our grapes. These attributes give our wines their luscious full bodied feel to match the extreme color depth and complexity of flavors.”
Romeo Vineyards produced their first vintage in 1997 - and they’ve been turning out hit after elegant, delicious hit ever since!
Pale straw yellow hues, with gemlike (peridot) carity.
Green apple, yellow grapefruit, jalapeno, dried straw and savory herbs.
Melon, lemon curd, Golden Delicious apple, Asian pear, white spice, subtle jalapeno and savory herbs.
Very dynamic, with bright fruits that swell on the palate. As these fade, they cling longest to the front and side palate. Asian pear and spice linger the longest.
Enjoy this richly layered wine with a Cobb salad with plenty of bleu cheese, or a seafood stew.
