Mission Codename An Ideal World
It took some work, but we got Deering to part with a small quantity of their stupendous, elegant and delicious Deering Wine 2011 Sonoma Valley Ideal. This juicy, fruit-forward wine is a perfect combination of 51% Syrah, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petite Sirah and 2% Zinfandel.
Our tasting panel was crazy about this wine!
The savory aromas that waft from this wine make you want to eat it. Aromas of black cherry, blackberry preserve, leather, spice, cassis, oak and a hint of minerally black pepper.
Just as you’d expect from any Deering wine, this wine presents delicious flavors from start to finish. Bold blackberry, black cherry and smoky blueberry lead the way. These are followed by plum, grilled fig, leather, spice and black pepper.
We first featured Deering in 2013. Back then they became an instant hit with our Operatives. Unfortunately, this small-production winery usually sells all of their wine directly to wine club members, leaving very little for wine merchants like us.
At 42% off, this wine delivers fantastic value, earning it an Ultra QPR designation.
Here’s what the wine press has to say:
Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast - “Syrah makes up more than half of this blend that also includes Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah and Malbec. The combination is medium-bodied and mixed, with baked bread and tart cranberry competing for attention. Bay leaf and dried herb also play roles, before the whole finishes light.”
Double Gold Class Champion - 2015 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo International Wine Competition.
