Mission Codename 1886
Today’s Freemark Abbey Winery 2012 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the finest of the 2012 vintage. Robert Parker gave this wine a 93 point score - while giving the vintage a score of 96E.
That E is for Extraordinary.
Today’s wine hits all of the right notes. This wine is exquisite!
On the nose, this wine is bold, lush and very aromatic, with smoky blueberry, blackberry jam, mixed berry pie, leather, spice box, cigar box, dried fall leaves, twigs, chocolate covered cherry and subtle black pepper.
After an explosion of black cherry on the palate, rich, delicious flavors of blackberry, blueberry, cherry cordial, bramble bush, dried fall leaves, cocoa powder, baker’s chocolate, slate mineral and cracked peppercorn follow.
This wine is an expressive Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that delivers all of the classic aromas, bold flavors and extravagant mouth feel that one would expect from a true luxury Napa Cab.
Enjoy… but be quick. Our allocation is modest - and this wine won’t likely last the whole day.

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
93 points - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate - “An absolutely fabulous value is the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa… Loads of sweet blackcurrant fruit, cocoa, a touch of toast, earth, and baking spice are all present in this wine that has terrific fruit on the attack and mid-palate, a full-bodied mouthfeel, no hard edges and a luscious, opulent, gorgeously pure style.
Drink it over the next 10-15 years, although I wouldn’t be surprised to see it last longer. For old-time reader/subscribers, this might be the modern-day equivalent of the great 1974 Souverain Vintage Selection that I recommended back in the late 1970s and is still going strong today.”
