Anticipation

Today’s special wine is a must-have, dear Operative!

This delightful Chardonnay has all the makings of greatness; Heintz Vineyard + former Williams Selyem winemaker Dan Fitzgerald + Brack Mountain = greatness in the glass. We bought every case we could, but hurry, quantity is limited.

We’ve been featuring wines from Heintz Vineyard for the last 7 years or so. Our head spy, Agent Red, adores their delicious wines and when he learned that his pals at Brack Mountain produced a Heintz vineyard designate under their Matias label, he rushed to taste it. The moment he did, he snapped it up for our Operatives.

The fact that this wine was made by Dan Fitzgerald for the kings of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Williams Selyem, was the icing on this fresh, fruity, elegant wine.

This wine is bright and fresh with aromas of Meyer lemon, lemon curd, lime blossom, yellow grapefruit, fresh pineapple, subtle vanilla and a hint of flinty mineral.

It is also incredibly delicious, with bright flavors of Meyer lemon, lime zest, orange blossom, pineapple, pink grapefruit, acacia flower, lemon curd, vanilla, subtle toasty oak, and a hint of minerality.

The list of wineries that purchase Heintz Ranch Vineyards grapes is as long as it is impressive. That list is a Who’s Who of award-winning, ultra-premium wine producers. Littorai, Oren Swift, Williams-Selyem, Suacci-Carciere and many others prize Heintz grapes for their superior quality.

Today’s wine is made from select Heintz grapes. The result is a Chardonnay of class, distinction and style.

The Sonoma Coast AVA is the 750 square mile area with the Pacific ocean on its western boundary, the San Pablo Bay to the south and Mendocino County to the north, headed inland to the other designated AVAs in Sonoma County. The region is heavily influenced by the cooler ocean climate, increased rainfall and fog that lingers long on the coastal mountains. The specific climate suits the demanding Burgundian varietals of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay very well.

Today only, enjoy 35% off on this really special, really delicious Chardonnay. Quantity is limited, so please hurry.

Here’s what the wine press has to say:

96 points - “Sommelier to the Stars” Chris Sawyer - “For the first three decades, most of the Chardonnay grapes grown at the Charles Heintz Vineyard near the charming hamlet of Occidental in Sonoma County were secret ingredients used by a handful of popular wine brands. But over the past few years, the Heintz family has begun to sell more of its pristine fruit to well-respected boutique wine producers.

One of the new limited release wines from the site is the Matias 2013 Chardonnay made by Brack Mountain Wine Company. With a lovely pale golden hue, the wine opens up with enchanting aromas of ripe fruits, melon, citrus, dried coconut, nutmeg and cardamom.

On the palate, the flavors are generous with lively notes of ripe peach, quince, Meyer lemon and roasted nuts with sea salt; a creamy texture; and a subtle hint of oak on the lingering finish.

Complex, fulfilling, and refreshing in each sip, try this wine with fresh soups, tangy salads with goat cheese, pasta with white cream sauce, fresh fish, game hen, pork tenderloin, and Cajun spices.
