Mission Briefing
Higher and Higher
One of our most popular wines of last year was made by Dan Fitzgerald. As you may recall, Dan came to fame while working for Pinot powerhouses Robert Sinskey Vineyards and Williams-Selyem Winery.
Now he’s leading the winemaking team at Brack Mountain Wine Company, under the L’Oliveto, Daniel and Cyprus labels.
Today’s Cyprus Wines 2014 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is every bit as superb as last year’s Pinot Noir of the Year winner. Who knows, it could go on to become this year’s winner!
Rich, dark fruits of black cherry, red currant, pomegranate and cranberry meld with forest floor, honeybush, dried orange, Earl Grey tea, mild spice and dried mushroom.
On the palate, Classic Russian River Valley, with flavors of cherry, smoky strawberry, forest floor, dried wild mushroom, mixed spice, subtle oak and a subtle hint of white pepper.
Please enjoy this truly lovely expression of Russian River Pinot Noir with our highest recommendation!

92 points - “Sommelier to the Stars” Chris Sawyer - “f you’re looking for a food-friendly Pinot Noir with class and style, then you’re in for a treat with the new Cyprus 2014 from Russian River Valley.
Crafted by Daniel Fitzgerald, the director of winemaking for the Sonoma County-based Brack Mountain Wine Company, this boutique wine with a ruby hue opens up with fragrant aromas of ripe red fruits, fresh violets, spearmint, forest floor, and nice integration of fine French oak.
In the mouth, the flavor profile is filled with lively notes of dark cherry, pomegranate, huckleberry, cola, citrus zest and savory herbs. With soft texture and a burst of tangy acidity; this young wine is fresh, elegant, and becomes more complex with every sip.
Try this expressive Pinot Noir with fresh cheeses, hummus, kale salads, wild rice, gourmet sandwiches, pizzas, roasted turkey, grilled pork chops, and lamb meatballs with a spicy yogurt-mint sauce.
Tasting Profile
Look: | When viewed from the side, this wine shows off a dark garnet color. View it from the top, or give the wine a nice swirl, and it shows as a beautiful light ruby color. |
---|---|
Smell: | Black cherry, red currant, pomegranate and cranberry meld with forest floor, honeybush, dried orange, Earl Grey tea, mild spice and dried mushroom. |
Taste: | Cherry, smoky strawberry, forest floor, dried wild mushroom, mixed spice, subtle oak and a subtle hint of white pepper. |
Finish: | All of these juicy, refined, elegant flavors persist for a very long time, tailing off evenly and leaving behind a softly plush dryness that feels supple and elegant. |
Pairing: | We’ll be pairing this very food-fabulous wine with a nice pork stir-fry with bok choy and basil, but really it would go with most fish, fowl or pork meals. |
