AR-5 - Argentinian Red Wine
Locations, Locations, Locations
The newest Locations by Dave Phinney wine to grace our pages is the richly delicious 95 point delight, the Locations AR-5 - Argentinian Red Wine. This blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon is a deeply delicious, layered, concentrated wine.
If you love big, juicy wines with tons of character, this one is for you.
This wine conveys a plethora of aromas, with a noseful of black cherry, mulberry, dark spice, leather, braised fig, grilled plum, toasted mahogany cherry tobacco and black pepper.
Bold, juicy flavors splash across the front palate, with blackberry jam, cherry juice, black currant, red currant, cedar, plum, soft spice and flinty mineral.
Dave’s Locations wines are something of a reset after Orin Swift’s prices have soared to the point of making them out of reach for many wine drinkers. Locations aims to deliver the best of the best of wines from all over the world, including Italy, Argentina, Portugal, Spain, France, Oregon - and others.
This wine is offered to you with our boldest recommendation!
Here’s what the wine press has to say:
95 points, Platinum Award Winner - Sommelier Challenge 2016 International Wine Competition - “Dave Phinney’s Locations project is off to a rousing start with this delicious blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s a lively glass that’s red fruit focused, with red currant, plum, black cherry and fall spice, with supple tannins, good grip and fine integration of flavors through the long finish. A great value that’s worth locating.”
Robert Parker, Wine Advocate - “Dave Phinney is one of the more creative young minds in all of the world’s winedom. He is doing things that are far beyond his modest age and deserves to be commended for the brilliant individuality/singularity of all of his efforts.
As of now, Dave Phinney might be my “value winemaker of the year” candidate. If there are better wines for under $20 a bottle in the world today, please share that information with the Wine Advocate.”
Deepest maroon hues, with pure garnet edging. Spin the wine and it settles quickly, leaving behind wave after wave of tightly pack, wine stained tears that move very slowly down the glass wall.

Extraordinarily long, starting with a lightweight juiciness as fruits cascade across the palate. Then, as the wine settles onto the tongue, it becomes softly grippy as the wine reveals soft, plush tannins.
Enjoy this wonder of a wine with barbecued lamb, beef or pork, particularly with smoky, chilli-based rubs. A lamb tagines with almonds and apricots over couscous.
