Mission Codename Gentlemen prefer reds
Today’s wine is truly one of the best under-$35 Merlots that we’ve ever featured. Our entire tasting panel absolutely loves this balanced, wonderful wine.
Today’s wine is no novelty or ‘celebrity’ wine. In fact, all of the Marilyn wines that we have tasted are serious wines for serious wine drinkers.
What did we find when our panel spent a lot of time with today’s Marilyn Wines 2014 Marilyn Merlot? We found a juicy, elegant and downright delicious red wine that will pair with almost anything!
This aromatic wine san be sensed from several feet away! Aromas leap from the glass, with bright Bing cherry, cherry bark, red plum, pomegranate, red current, raspberry, cherrywood, chocolate covered cherry and subtle oak.
As juicy, flavorful and delicious as the nose initially suggests. Bing cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, wild strawberry, cedar, cocoa, mild toasty oak, cocoa powder, subtle savory brown spice and a hint of white pepper.
It is no wonder that today’s Merlot is so good. When you combine Merlot from Andy Beckstoffer’s fabled Missouri Hopper Vineyard, in the Oakville Appellation, with the impressive talents of winemaker Jim McKay, the magic that ensues is wonderful.
Very highly recommended.
