Mission Codename Hall of Fame
Please join us in celebrating the return of Petrali Vineyards, who recently became one of our best-selling Syrah producers of all time.
Today’s Petrali Vineyards 2005 Sonoma Valley “Blythleigh” Red Wine contains that same Syrah, but is made even more tasty by the addition of Viogier, Mouvedre and Petite Syrah.
Today’s wine was made by one of our favorite new-to-Wine Spies winemakers, Kian Tavakoli, whose recent postings found him making wine at both Clos du Val and Opus One.
Super aromatic with perfume of blackberry, black cherry, vanilla, briar, mocha, plum, grilled fig, sweet spice and smoky cherry.
Flavors cascade onto the palate, with black cherry out in front, followed by blackberry turnover, violets, plum, braised cherry, chocolate, vanilla, sweet spice and cracked pepper.
This wine is drinking just beautifully at the moment, and we think that it has quite a few years yet left in it!
