Mission Codename The moon and back

By now you know just how important the 2010 Napa Cabernet vintage was. You also know just how rare 2010s have become.

Today’s Foley Johnson 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a truly extraordinary example from this best in a decade vintage. This wine is one of the finest Napa Cabs that we’ve shown in months, and that’s really saying something.

All of our Napa Cabs have been great, but this one is truly something very special.

This wine is absolutely gorgeous on the nose, with rich aromas of stewed black cherry, blackberry compote, braised plum, cherry tobacco, cured meats, mocha, soft spice and cracked pepper.

A rush of flavor coats the palate with delicious flavors of black cherry, blackberry reduction, baker’s chocolate, tobacco leaf, grilled plum, grilled cherry, chocolate covered cherry, blackberry candy, sweet spice and black pepper.

Today’s wine was made by Patrick Foley, son of wine industry powerhouse, Bill Foley. Patrick is an accomplished and talented winemaker in his own right. His talents are supported by those of consulting winemaker, David Ramey, of Ramey Wines, Chateau Petrus, Dominus, Rudd and others.

This winemaking team is one to watch, and you can bet that we’ll be showing plenty of future Foley Johnson vintages.

Remember, the 2010 Napa Cabernet vintage earned a decade-high 99 points from Wine Spectator Magazine’s editor in chief, James Laube. 2010 is the it vintage and Napa Cabs from 2010 are increasingly difficult to come by.

You got really lucky today. Reserve some of this very highly recommended wine while you can!

Here’s what the wine press has to say:

91 points - James Suckling - “A red with lots of iodine, stone, currant and spice character. It’s full-bodied, chewy and juicy. I like this slightly better than the Estate Bottled in 2010. Needs a least three or four years to soften: better in 2016.”

~

90 points - Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate - “The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate offers greater richness and breadth of flavor than its two siblings. The color is a healthy dark ruby/purple and the wine reveals notes of creme de cassis, vanillin and licorice. It builds incrementally on the palate. Elegant, with good substance, medium to full body, sweet tannins and an accessible style, it should evolve for up to a decade.”
