Mission Codename Leap Day
Today’s Stag’s Leap Cellars 2014 “Karia” Napa Valley Chardonnay is the best Chardonnay that we’ve ever tasted from this iconic producer. If you love your Chardonnay silky, elegant, balanced and full of flavor, this wine hits all of the right notes.
Very limited, so reserve yours soon.
Aromas jump from the glass, with yellow beach, white peach, nectarine, vanilla, creamed honey, acacia flowers, pear and toasty oak.
The wine splashes your palate with Meyer lemon, yellow peach, Asian pear, white spice, creamed honey, lemongrass, sweet oak and white pepper.
The Stags Leap District in Napa Valley gained worldwide acclaim when, in 1976, wines from the region bested their French rivals in the now-infamous Judgment of Paris.
Today’s wine from our friends at Stags’ Leap Winery is a rich, delicious and character-filled wine that reinforces the widely-held belief that the best wines in California come from the Stags Leap district.
Enjoy!

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
91 points - Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast - “A greeting of caramel and honey reveals a touch of barrel reduction in this medium-bodied, generously layered wine. It imparts a ripeness of melon and apple, finishing in a sprinkling of nutmeg.”
~
91 points - Wilfred Wong - “Some things never change and the 2014 Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Karia Chardonnay is one of the best examples of this axiom. This is a picture perfect, well balanced, ultra-premium wine. I would pair this one with grilled Mary’s organic chicken and call it a night.
Medium straw in color; aromas show fine and intricate weaving of ripe, core fruits and sweet oak, excellent aromatic and depth; medium bodied, textured yet lively on the palate; fine balance; lasting flavors of ripe apples and vanilla; smooth and bright in the aftertaste, with an almost rounded creaminess.”
~
90 points - Robert Parker Jr, Wine Advocate - “A beautiful Chardonnay from Stag’s Leap, the 2014 Chardonnay Karia spent seven months on its lees in 30% new French oak. It exhibits wonderful, tropical pineapple, white peach and honeysuckle notes, great acidity, and beautifully, pure fruit with very little evidence of oak. It is medium to full-bodied, fresh and very seductive. Drink it over the next several years.”
