Silver Ghost Cellars
2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
California: Napa Valley
Spirit of Seduction
Silver Ghost Cellars marks their glorious return with their remarkably elegant, decidedly delicious 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
This wine is, hands down, the finest, most elegant and ready to drink 2014 Napa Cabs we’ve tasted. Truth be told, we’ve tasted - and rejected - quite a few cabs so far. Those wines just weren’t ready to be shown.
Today’s wine, however, is. This Classically-styled Napa Cabernet Sauvignon has stolen our hearts.
Your introduction to this wine is an explosion of aromas on the nose, with black cherry, spiced blackberry jam, cassis, violets, blueberry, mocha, sweetwood and mixed spice.
Flavors dance onto the palate, with rich, juicy, Napa-classic flavors of cassis, blackberry, blueberry preserve, black cherry, mocha, tobacco, toasty oak, leather, mixed spice and black pepper.
This is a wine that we encourage you to sip and savor all on its own, unpacking aromas and flavors as the wine opens up.
This wine is incredibly good now, yet will continue to improve and evolve for the next 5 to 7 years, maybe even longer. At this low price, we encourage you to stock up.
Very, very highly recommended.
Here’s what the wine press has to say:
94 points - #1 wine of 2016 - Wine Spectrum - “Complex, dark fruit aromas of black cherry, blueberry, and cassis burst from the glass along with toast, smoked herbs, and coffee. On the palate, this wine reveals phenomenal purity and opulent fruit with lush and well-integrated tannins supporting a rich texture and depth that continue through the long finish.”
Dark purple hues at the heart of the wine, lovely garnet at the edges.
Black cherry, spiced blackberry jam, cassis, violets, blueberry, mocha, sweetwood and mixed spice.
Cassis, blackberry, blueberry preserve, black cherry, mocha, tobacco, toasty oak, leather, mixed spice and black pepper.
Bold fruit flavors eventually succumb to spiced, earthy notes. Plush tannins drive a crushed velvet, chewy feeling all around the palate, eventually leading to a soft dryness that reminds you to take another richly delicious sip.
Enjoy this wine with your best, most favorite red meat dishes… or all on its own.
