2012 Sempre Vive Napa Valley Malbec
California: Napa Valley
We have a very limited allocation of today’s superb Romeo Vineyards 2012 Sempre Vive Napa Valley Malbec - and we expect it to sell out pretty quickly. 2012 is one of the best Napa vintages on record - and it shows in today’s deeply layered, super delectable wine from our friends at Romeo Vineyards.
Rich and fragrant on the nose, with spiced plum, blackberry preserve, black cherry, spice box, cherry wood, dried earth, dried cranberry, dark tobacco leaf and black pepper. Richly layered on the palate with bold blackberry reduction, black cherry juice, red plum, dried cherry, cherry cordial, subtle tomato stem, dark spice and dried fall leaves.
This wine hails from the latest hit vintage, the incredible 2012. The last time we saw a vintage this superb, was the decade-high 2010. We all got very lucky with this vintage, as we normally see a full decade or more pass between such stellar vintages. In fact, the 2012 Napa Cabernet vintage was awarded a stratospheric 96 points (Wine Spectator Magazine) - making this wine one to stock up on.
Romeo Vineyards produced their first vintage in 1997 - and they’ve been turning out hit after elegant, delicious hit ever since!
Darkest maroon hues, with pretty garnet edging.
Spiced plum, blackberry preserve, black cherry, spice box, cherry wood, dried earth, dried cranberry, dark tobacco leaf and black pepper.
Blackberry reduction, black cherry juice, red plum, dried cherry, cherry cordial, subtle tomato stem, dark spice and dried fall leaves.
Enjoy the nearly endless finish, as juicy, dark fruits slowly fade to reveal an earthy spiciness that is driven to the far corners of the palate by the plush and softly drying tannins.
A plate of saucy ribs, a traditional roast beef or just about any red meat dish is a pairing winner with this flexible wine.
