Today’s Casal de Arman 2014 Ribeiro Tinto was made by a 4th generation family that has been making wine in the Ribiero region of Spain since back in the 19th century.

This wine is lively, yet rich and elegant. Balance, flavor and poise are plentiful here, making this wine a must-have.

On the nose, the wine is lush and rich, with smoky cherry, cherry candy, chocolate covered cherry, river rock, slate, dusty blackberry bramble, cracked pepper and a hint of eucalyptus nut.

Lively and rich on the palate, with flavors of blackberry, black cherry, slate mineral, softly smoky cedar, dried fall leaves, bramble and super subtle dried herbs.

Ribeiro is a Spanish Denominación de Origen for wines that hail from the northwest of the province of Ourense (Galicia, Spain). This region lies within the valleys that were formed by the rivers Miño, Arnoia, Avia and Barbantiño. It has an area of 30 km and includes 9 complete municipalities and 4 other municipalities that cross into the region.

The first vineyards here were were planted by the ancient Romans in the Middle Ages. Vineyards sit between 75 and 400m above sea level and are comprised of both valley floor sites and steep, sloping and often terraced sites.

The deep soils here are comprised largely of granite and sand, giving the soil a texture which provides great drainage while reflecting beneficial sunlight upward and onto the vines.

Like most great wine growing regions, the climate here is a transition zone, ranging between Oceanic and Mediterranean. The climate is a prime contributor to even growth and prefect ripening.
