This wine hails from the Red Mountain AVA, which is the smallest Washington state American Viticultural Area. This 40 years young AVA is home to some of Washington state’s most prestigious vineyards, including Ceil du Cheval and Klipsun.

Incredibly fragrant on full on the nose with aromas of fresh blackberry jam, spiced strawberry, cassis, dark leather, mixed savory spice, cured meats, stewed fig and a hint of dried orange peel.

Boldly flavored, with layer after layer of goodness, leading with blackberry, black cherry and black currant, with river rock, dried meats, cherry bark, spice and black pepper.

About the Red Mountain AVA:

Red Mountain isn’t a mountain, nor is it red. This hill sits at the eastern end of the Yakima Valley appellation. Grapes that grow here are typically very expensive and prized for their power and concentration. Poor soil conditions stress the vines, while intense sunlight allows for the sort of even ripening that isn’t possible elsewhere in the state. Cool evenings help to bolster acidity. Overall, conditions here are great for overall balance.
